Fall Festival 2009 Recap and Highlights

The Thirteenth Annual PTSA-sponsored Fall Festival held last Friday was a tremendous success! Over 50 school clubs and organizations benefited from the event, earning more than $14,000 for their treasuries. The MLWGS Fall Festival provides a wonderful opportunity to gather the entire school community (students and their families, alumni, faculty, staff, administrators, and neighbors) to enjoy food, fun and fellowship in a relaxed environment.

Some highlights from this year’s festival included:
  • More food booths than ever, providing an array of international favorites, including bratwurst, falafel, panini, crepes, Asian, Spanish, and soul food entrees, pizza, hot dogs and hamburgers, popcorn, ice cream, snow cones, milkshakes, root beer floats, caramel corn, candy apples and other goodies.
  • Many activities for all ages, including: video games, a cake walk, a craft table, a Russian beanbag toss game, a ball-toss game for goldfish, a dunking tank, a moon-bounce, and many other attractions.
  • A diverse schedule of live stage performances drew large crowds. Some of the acts included: musical ASL signing, Shakespeare/Improv, student rock bands, MLWGS chorus, jazz, and pep band performances not to mention the hugely popular Faculty Lounge Lizards.

The PTSA Fall Festival Committee wishes to thank everyone who enthusiastically supported this event including:

Mr. Morton, Mr. Tharp, and the scores of MLWGS Green Dragons, administrators, staff members, custodians and security, along with the many spirited festival participants: faculty club sponsors, club members, performers, scads of hard-working volunteers and lenders of essential equipment who kindly shared generators, tents, coolers, and many other items.

We are deeply indebted to Mr. John Cox, Cox Transportation president, Mr. Ray Weidman, Cox Director of Fleet Maintenance,  and Mr. Robert Howe, father of alumnus Garrett Howe, for generously providing the open trailer (complete with steps) that became our fabulous Fall Festival entertainment stage.

Please join us in congratulating the winners of Fall Festival 2009 awards:
