Attention Parents of Seniors!

The January edition of the Senior Scholarship Newsletter was distributed to seniors last week through English classes and is now available online: http://www.gsgis.k12.va.us/ourdepartments/newguidancesite/Newsletters/January2010ScholarshipNewsletter.pdf

Students are encouraged to continue researching and applying for scholarships. It is also a critical time for the financial aid process, as it is now the best time to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA, http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/). Paula Powell from the GReat Aspiration Scholarship Program (GRASP) is available on Thursdays between 9:00 am and 2:00 pm to answer parents’ individual questions about this complex process. To set up an appointment, contact your child’s senior counselor or Zona Hicks, School Counseling Administrative Assistant, at 354-6800 x3213. Families are encouraged to complete the FAFSA form by February 1 (priority filing dates may vary by college).
