The 2009-10 MLWGS PTSA Board is seeking the assistance of several parents with auditing, accounting, or previous PTA board experience to volunteer for the PTSA Audit Committee. The audit is conducted over the summer and its primary purpose is to inspect the books, records, and financial management practices of our MLWGS PTSA over the course of the fiscal year in order to ensure compliance with Virginia and National PTA requirements, as well as IRS regulations for non-profit organizations.
The VA PTA provides a clear, easy to use checklist tool for this purpose, and members of previous MLWGS PTSA audit committees have found this to be a valuable yet time-limited way to assist our PTSA and learn more about parent-led programs for Maggie Walker Governor’s School.
