The Visual Art Boosters Club recently sponsored a weekend trip to New York City. On Friday, March 19, a group of 42 art and photography students, Maggie Walker teachers and parent chaperones boarded the train for the Big Apple. They visited four of the most renowned art galleries in America: The Museum of Modern Art (MoMA), the Guggenheim, the Metropolitan Museum of Art (commonly referred to as the “Met”) and the Whitney.
Highlights of the trip included: the Tim Burton exhibit at the MoMA, French cubist paintings at the Guggenheim, Claude Monet’s Water Lilies and van Gogh’s Starry Night at the Met, and the avant-garde work of contemporary artists at the Whitney Biennial. The group also enjoyed seeing West Side Story performed on Broadway.
