Hunter Knight ’10 (Henrico) received 1st runner up in the 2010 Times-Dispatch/Sports Backers Scholar-Athletes of the Year competition. The honor includes a $4,500 college scholarship.
The Maggie Walker senior is a National Club Swimming Association All-Star and the Central Region male swimmer of the year. In addition to being a superior student, this year Hunter has earned All-American times in the 100 breaststroke and 200 individual medley.
“Hunter is an outstanding example of the Maggie Walker scholar-athlete,” said Maggie Walker Director Fred S. Morton. “We wish him the best at Duke University next year.”
The other finalist from Maggie Walker this year is Clarissa Schick ’10 (Richmond), who won a $2,500 scholarship. Clarissa is the Region III USATF Junior Olympic Cross Country champion and took second place at the national meet, making her a two-time All-American. Next year Clarissa will be attending the College of William and Mary.
