Patents Published for MLWGS Freshman

Samantha M. Marquez ('14) has published two patent applications titled Artificial Micro-Glands (see attached files: Oct 7, 2010). In 2008, while still at Robious Middle School, Samantha initiated a scientific collaboration in the field of Bioengineering, with several academic institutions such as Arizona State University, Georgia Institute of Technology, YNano LLC, VCU, and Harvard. Her work won the 1st Place Award in "Medicine and Health Science" at the Virginia Junior Academy of Science, its 69th annual Meeting at James Madison University on May 21, 2010

Today, as a MLWGS freshman, she continues working as a research intern at the Harvard School of Engineering and Applied Sciences to explore more applications of her discoveries in the fields of Biophysics, Tissue-Engineering and Synthetic Biology. Samantha represents an excellent example of leadership in Science and Technology with more accomplishments to come!
