FOVGS Needs Your Help

The General Assembly budget conferees are working to reconcile the considerable differences between the House and Senate proposed education budgets. The Senate has appropriated $100 million to K-12 education, though it has not specifically proposed an increase in the per pupil amount for each Governor’s School student, currently at $4327.

Any increase in education funding will, in all likelihood, go to the general K-12 pool, not to Governor’s Schools (which are a separate line item in the budget). You can help ensure Maggie Walker receives a portion of any increase in education funding.

Please contact the members of the conference committee (listed below) TODAY, and request they approve Senate’s proposed increased in K-12 spending and, to ensure Gov Schools get some of the additional funding, that the PPA be restored to its previous level, $4479. There are 6,251 Gov School students in VA. Restoring the PPA to its previous level would cost Virginia only $950,152.
