The team of Kevin Chen, Tucker Dean, Jonathan Kim, Jason Kong, Matthew Moliterno, Spencer Pigg and Cassie Turnage won the regional AEM Construction Challenge by defeating 13 teams of students from Governor’s Schools from across Virginia. During the six hour competition held at Maggie Walker, the teams were faced with three design challenges related to highway infrastructure and water treatment. They are now busy preparing for the national competition that will take place in Las Vegas at the CONEXPO-CON/AGG trade show from March 21-25.
The trip is made possible with generous financial contributions. Liebherr is providing corporate sponsorship for our team. Travel is made possible by the MLWGS foundation. And Platinum Training is providing logistical support.
The experience affords students with opportunities for prizes, scholarships and internships while making them aware of the wide array of employment opportunities within the construction industry. Georgianne Stinnett is the faculty sponsor.
