Another Strong Year for Forensics

Congratulations to the MLWGS Forensics Team for a first place finish at the Colonial District Championship for a second year in a row. The Dragons came home with 11 medals, securing first place in seven categories. First place winners included Jesse Zhao in Original Oratory; Ginny Adamson in Storytelling; Caitlin Lane in Humorous Dramatic Interpretation; Darice Xue in Serious Dramatic Interpretation; Matthew King in Prose Interpretation; Ryan Polk in Impromptu, followed by Marc Petrine in second place; and Charles Fricke in Extemporaneous Speaking, followed by Dylan Fauss in third. Alexandra Howells finished second and Grace Lin third in Poetry Interpretation. What a fantastic finish!

The team faced stiff competition in the Regional Forensics Championship at Deep Run High School. Dylan Fauss won fourth place in Extemporaneous Speaking. After winning third place in Serious Dramatic Interpretation in Regionals, Darice Xue continue on to the VHSL State Championship at Harrisonburg HS on Saturday, March 26th where she finished in 7th place in Virginia.

“We have a young team with tremendous talent and promise,” explained Celie Boswell, the team’s coach. “This is only our second year, and we had eleven students advance to Regionals, which is almost double last year’s incredible inaugural performance and one student performed well again at States. With all our team members returning next year, I can’t wait to see what year three will bring.”
