Attention Parents: FOVGS Needs Your Help

Volunteer Opportunities in the areas of Web Design, Meeting Planning,
Administrative Assistant, Photography

Friends of Virginia’s Governor’s Schools (FOVGS) is a parent-led advocacy group whose mission is to increase awareness of the governor’s schools’ at the General Assembly and to protect state funding for these schools.

We have a number of recruiting needs for next year. You do not need legislative experience to lend a hand, nor will you be required to participate in legislative visits. Immediate recruiting needs include:

Web Design: Our website is www.fovgs.org. Help FOVGS update the website – no writing required. FOVGS will accept help from a technically savvy student with an interest in web design. WordPress experience a plus, but not necessary.

Meeting Planning: FOVGS meets three or four times a year. Assistance is needed to book and set-up the room, organize coffee, lunch etc.

Administrative/Clerical Assistance: Help organize folders, make copies, assist with clerical needs for Capitol Day, type meeting minutes.

Art Show: Help the Chairperson organize the annual show at the General Assembly. Work with school art departments to bring work to Richmond, and mount and break down the show.

Photography: Document the FOVGS Art Show and Capitol Day activities.
