Outstanding Russian Scholar Recognized

Please be sure to congratulate Timmy Earley ('12) when you see him. The American Council of Teachers of Russian has named Timmy, who is a Russian 3 student at MLWGS, as one of its Russian Scholar Laureates for 2011.

According to the ACTR press release, “he is a member of a highly select group of Russian students from almost fifty secondary schools throughout the United States—all of whom were selected by their teachers and principals as the most outstanding Russian student of 2011 at their schools.” Timmy earned the distinction of being Maggie Walker’s lone nominee—only one per school is permitted—through his excellence and conscientiousness in his study of the Russian language and through his enthusiasm for Russian culture.

In commemoration of this enviable distinction, Timmy will receive a certificate signed by the ACTR President, as well as a priceless lapel pin. In addition, he will be recognized in the Fall, 2011, issue of the ACTR newsletter.  Congratulations, Timmy!
