Poetry Out Loud is a national poetry recitation contest. Students begin by competing at the classroom level. Classroom winners then compete to see who will represent the school in a regional competition. This year, over 120 students from our school competed. The English Department is pleased to announce that sophomore Lily Hargis is the first place winner this year. She will represent MLWGS in February for the regional competition.
Second place goes to freshman Emma Greene. Senior Ross Anderson placed third. The English Department wishes to thank all the students and teachers who took part in the poetry competition at MLWGS, as well as Sharon Parker and Penny Deck who also participated.
