Mech Tech Dragons Team "Climbs" to Title of VA Finalist

Mech Tech Dragons 2012 FIRST Robotics Team 422,
Virginia Regional Finalists

Maggie L. Walker's FIRST Team 422, the "Mech Tech Dragons," competed in the Virginia Regional FIRST Robotics Competition at the VCU Siegel Center held March 15-17.

The team and its robot made it through 10 grueling qualifying rounds in a competition with 58 other teams to successfully reach the elimination rounds.

The Mech Tech Dragons won their quarterfinal and semifinal matches, literally "climbing the bridge" to the finals of the tournament

In one of their last matches at the Siegel Center, they achieved the highest score of the tournament with their Alliance partners, LC Bird's Robohawks and Midlothian's Midlocanics. They placed second overall, earning the Virginia Regional Finalists trophy.

The MLWGS FIRST Team 422 was lead by officers Wil Payne('12), Wil Thomason('12), Marschall Furman ('12), Jack Palen('12), and Christine Gao('13), and are supported by Mr. Tharp and Mr. Houghton. The team will compete in April in the North Carolina Regional Tournament in Raleigh.

Best of Luck in Carolina, Mech Tech Dragons!
