Art, English, and Photography Students Win National Scholastic Awards

Four Maggie Walker students have won Scholastic awards on the National level.


Miranda Elliott('12) received an American Visions award and gold key for her photograph “Slice." This is the highest recognition that a student can receive for a single image, and Miranda is the first Maggie Walker student to do so on the National level.

Selena Kitchens('13) has received a gold key for her oil painting while Erika Chu('14) took home a silver key for her pen and ink drawing.


Elizabeth Ballou('12) received a silver key with distinction for her writing portfolio.


Each of these students will be recognized in a ceremony at Carnegie Hall on May 31, and the gold key work will be exhibited in shows throughout New York City.
