MLWGS Makes Newsweek's "Best Schools" List

Newsweek Magazine has ranked the Maggie Walker Governor’s School for Government and International Studies as the 16th best public high school in the nation.
“This is a nice affirmation of our unique program,” said Mr. Don Skeen, Interim Director. “Maggie Walker provides enriched activities for students through an extremely supportive environment of teachers, parents, alumni, and student peers.”

According to Newsweek, the “list is based on six components provided by school administrators: graduation rate(25 percent), college matriculation rate(25 percent), AP/IB/AICE tests taken per student(25 percent), average SAT/ACT scores(10 percent), average AP/IB/AICE scores(10 percent), and AP courses offered per student(5 percent).”
