Welcome New Faculty!

Jeff McGee entered the United States Army in 1983. Following graduation from the John F. Kennedy Special Warfare Center, he served in the Fifth Special Forces Group. Subsequent to his military tenure, McGee earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education from Virginia Tech and a Master of Education Degree from Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU). He is currently a Ph.D. candidate at VCU. McGee has more than 20 years professional experience as a high school teacher, coach, and administrator as well as experience via four middle school principalships in Virginia and in the U.S. Department of Defense Schools. These tenures included leadership in center-based settings for highly gifted learners as well as experience in urban, suburban, rural, and international settings. McGee and his wife of over twenty years have two teen-aged boys. The McGee family enjoys international travel and spending time together near the water. Having splashed in the waters of the Atlantic, South Pacific, and Indian Oceans the family hopes to plunge into the Arctic Ocean in the future.

Tim Drummond is joining the Fine Arts Department teaching Chorus at Maggie Walker.  Drummond holds a BM in Music Education from James Madison University, and is currently pursuing a Master's in Music Education from Boston University.  He came to Richmond in 2008, and after student teaching in Henrico, Drummond spent three years teaching chorus and drama in Middlesex County before coming to Maggie Walker. He has performed with the internationally-acclaimed James Madison Chorale and Madison Singers, the National Symphony Orchestra and Chorus, and local choirs, including the James River Singers and choirs at several local churches. Drummond also maintains a private voice studio. Drummond resides in Henrico County with his wife, daughter, dogs, and cat.  He is an adventurous chef, an avid hiker, and an enthusiastic supporter of FC Barcelona and Liverpool FC.


Hana Reed is thrilled to re-join the Global Studies department this year, teaching Global Studies 9 and AP US Government. Though a Blacksburg, VA native, she has lived in Richmond for most of her life. She is a graduate of the Chesterfield County Mathematics and Science High School at Clover Hill. Reed attended the University of Virginia where she earned her BA in History, with distinction, and her MT in Secondary Social Studies Education. She has studied language and history a semester each in Grantham, England and Valencia, Spain. Reed taught Global Studies part-time at Maggie Walker last year, has been a substitute at MLWGS since 2008. Out of the classroom, she loves traveling, reading, cooking, and music (playing, singing, or listening).

Ryan Webb is joining the Mathematics Department staff this year full-time, after student teaching at Maggie Walker in the 2011-2012 school year. He graduated in 2012 from Virginia Commonwealth University where he earned a Bachelor’s of Science in Mathematics and a Master’s Degree in Teaching with a specialization in Secondary Mathematics. In addition to teaching Webb will be entering his third year as an assistant coach to the MLWGS Cross Country and Track & Field teams. When not teaching and coaching, Webb enjoys trying new and local foods, following VCU athletics (where he ran Cross Country and Track), and spending time with his friends and family.
