Fall Festival is on the horizon, and the MLWGS community needs the help of many volunteers to make this year’s event a success. Fall Festival is designed to be the primary source of funds for student clubs and organizations, enabling students to spend their time during the year doing, not fundraising. All proceeds from the festival go directly into student clubs’ coffers.
With more than 60 groups expected at this year’s festival and hours of live entertainment, the PTSA needs many hands to help! Volunteer positions can be visible – such as managing the enthusiastic crowd at the stage; subtle – such as staffing the room where student backpacks and belongings are kept safe; or invisible – such as setting up on the morning of Oct. 5, when students are in class. Volunteers also sell drinks, serve as runners during the festival, count money, and help put everything away at the day’s end.
Students are welcome to work festival clean-up to earn those highly coveted community service hours, and no sign-up is required! Those wishing to help may simply report to the volunteer table at 8:00pm (A reminder: working a shift in a club booth does not qualify for community service hours.)
Another way to volunteer is to donate something for the festival, which will be returned either that night or shortly thereafter. Items needed are:
Extension cords: 15 amp, 12 AWG, 50’ or 100’ long
Pop-up tents: 10’x10’
Wheeled coolers: 30-can capacity or larger
Work lights: one or two on a single, freestanding base, 6’ or 8’ tall
To learn more, or to donate items, e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org or call volunteer coordinator JoAnne Kaperick, (804) 323-7448.
