Members of Maggie Walker's FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology)s Team 422, the Mech Tech Dragons, attended Governor Bob McDonnell's Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, and Healthcare (STEM-H) Summit in Richmond on Sept. 10.  The Secretary of Education's office invited the team to represent VirginiaFIRST at the summit, which was entitled, "Implementing Virginia's Landmark 'Top Jobs' Legislation."  Norm Augustine, who serves on the President's Council of Advisors on Science and Technology, was the keynote speaker. The students displayed their 2012 award-winning robot and discussed their team's success with summit attendees, who included state corporate leaders, STEM experts, and Virginia university and college presidents. The Governor mentioned the Mech Tech Dragons twice in his address to the audience.
