Fall Sports Win Honors

Boys XC Regional Runner-Ups: Austin Koch ('14), Alex Fleckenstein ('14), John Ziegler ('13), Matthew Pickering ('13), Nathaniel Tombes ('14), Joseph Boyle ('15), and Justin Wilck ('15).
Maggie Walker has had a great fall sports season with over 250 athletes smacking/finessing the ball or running the fields. The fall season has also seen some recent individual awards and recognition for MLWGS athletes.

The Field Hockey team finished as the regular season champions, the runner-up in the Colonial District Tournament and advanced to the Regional Tournament. At the Regional Tournament, MLWGS beat Hanover 2-0 to advance to the semi-finals. In the semi-finals, MLWGS lost a heartbreaker, 2-1, in double overtime to Cosby - the eventual Regional winners.

All-District Field Hockey: 1st team-Gabi deLeon, Megan Morris, Camilla Davis, Charlotte Carr, Abby Williams 2nd team- Laura Fuhr, Anna Phares, Catherine Green and All Players were All Academic.All-Region Field Hockey: 1st team-Gabi deLeon, Camilla Davis, 2nd team-Megan Morris and Honorable Mention-Charlotte Carr and All were All-Academic.

The Girls Varsity Volleyball team ended with an impressive 14-8 record, losing a tough round to Mills Godwin in the Colonial District playoffs. An impressive six girls made the All District Volleyball Teams. Sarah Boegner was named to the First Team Girls Volleyball All District for the Colonial District; Caitlin Swecker was named to the Second Team; and Carley Leckie, Sarah Dishman, Maddie Wyatt and Kate Baumann were on the Honorable Mention Team. 

Daniel Yoo ('14) represented Maggie Walker individually at the Central Region Golf Championship. At the Tournament, with a number of outstanding local golfers, Daniel tied for 15th. 

Cross Country is still having an outstanding season, with both girls and boys varsity teams advancing to the State meet on Nov. 10. A number of runners had impressive times and personal records at the Regional meet held at Pole Green Park on Nov. 3. Both the boys and girls freshman teams won their Freshman Team titles. The Sub-Varsity boys and girls teams also captured their team titles, and the Varsity boys and girls came in second in both of their Varsity races.
