Science, Dental, Leadership and Scholarship Programs Offered

The Joint Science Education Project (JSEP) is for 10th and 11th grade students interested in the natural sciences. This is a two part program: The Kangerlussauq Science Field School sponsored by the Government of Greenland and the US-led Science Education Week sponsored by the National Science Foundation. The Best Buy Scholarship Program offers 1,100 scholarships of $1,000 each to students in grades 9-12. Students who demonstrate good grades, commitment to community service and/or work experience are eligible to apply. Applications are due Feb. 15. Future Leaders Forum for Young Women - Capital One is pleased to offer the ninth Future Leaders Forum for Young Women on Saturday, Mar. 23. This full-day event welcomes 300 young women in grades 9 through 12 to Capital One's Richmond campus, where they will participate in activities designed to inspire, encourage and build their leadership skills. Students can see Ms. Davis to pick up an application. Applications are due by Mar. 8.

The Dental Career Exploration Program is offered to 10th, 11th, and 12th grade students who are interested in exploring a career in dentistry. Through hands-on workshops, students will develop skills such as reading comprehension through book discussions and public speaking through practice debates, as well as effective study skills.
