MAGGIE L. WALKER GOVERNOR’S SCHOOL
STUDENT OPT-OUT FOR THE 2013-2014 STUDENT DIRECTORY
Schools must notify parents and eligible students annually of their rights under FERPA. Pertinent to our student directory, schools must advise parents and eligible students about directory information and allow parents and students a reasonable amount of time to request that the school not disclose such information.
Each school year, the Maggie L. Walker Governor’s School for Government & International Studies (MLWGS) shall notify parents and eligible students of what information, if any, MLWGS designates as directory information and of their right to refuse to allow the school to include any or all of such information in the directory. The parent has 15 days from the date of this correspondence to notify the school, in writing, of any information he or she wishes to exclude from the directory. Directory information includes the following data: student’s name, year of graduation, phone number, home school district, home address, email address; mother’s name, phone number, email address; father’s name, phone number, email address.
Being included in the student directory will amplify your access to our fantastic school community. In addition, you will be a regular recipient of important information from our PTSA, Foundation, and Booster Groups.
A response is not necessary if the student or parent has no objection to being included in the directory.
