Almost a hundred 6th and 7th grade students from the greater Richmond area learned about science through hands-on activities on Saturday, Apr 27, from 9:00am to 3:00pm at Maggie Walker, and their teachers were Maggie Walker students.
“Science Day is an opportunity for area middle schoolers to have fun doing science activities,” said Kate Baumann (Henrico ’13), MLWGS Science National Honor Society Co-President. “Learning about science is important because it encourages curiosity and questioning.”
The instructors were all student members of the Maggie Walker Science National Honor Society.
Middle schoolers attended from as nearby as Richmond, Chesterfield, and Henrico, and as far as Dinwiddie and Colonial Heights.
Workshop topics included creating working lava lamps, experimenting with color chromatography, and making ice cream and learning about the chemistry behind it.
