Teacher Published in Anthology

Michele Surat, MLWGS professor of English, has been included in an anthology on Richmond during the Civil War. Remapping Richmond’s Hallowed Ground includes both poetry and prose by several Richmond writers. The subject of Surat’s poem is the Lincoln conspiracy and the controversial hanging of Mary Jenkins Surratt. The editors of the anthology are Kathy DuVall (mother of MLWGS alumni Peter and Martin Slag) and Martha Erwin. Surat has donated a copy of the anthology to the MLWGS library.
