PTSA Advocacy Establishes Million-Dollar Goal

In partnership with the Appomattox Regional Governor’s School, the MLWGS PTSA Advocacy Committee is actively encouraging the Governor, the Secretary of Education, and state lawmakers to support a new funding proposal for full-time Governor’s Schools. If the proposal succeeds, MLWGS stands to receive an additional $1,000,000 in annual state funding.

In order to accomplish this goal for increased state funding, PTSA Advocacy is seeking assistance from the school community. Parents, teachers, students or alumni with contacts with Virginia lawmakers or within the Executive Branch, please contact the Advocacy Committee to support this initiative. The committee is currently scheduling one-on-one meetings with representatives to educate them on the funding needs of MLWGS and the new funding proposal. Delegate Manoli Loupassi has been particularly helpful to MLWGS and ARGS and has been a strong advocate for the new funding proposal. Supporters should consider sending Delegate Loupassi a personal note expressing appreciation for his support at DelMLoupassi@house.virginia.gov.
