Legislators Meet With Students

Two State Senators and five Delegates visited Maggie Walker this past Wednesday, Dec. 11, for the annual Legislators Coffee, jointly hosted by the PTSA Advocacy Committee and the student-run Education Policy Advocacy Club (EduPAC).

Senators in attendance were Ryan McDougle (R-District 4) and Henry Marsh (D-District 16). Delegates in attendance were Buddy Fowler (R-55th), Peter Farrell (R-56th), Riley Ingram (R-62nd), Betsy Carr (D-69th), and John O'Bannon (R-73rd).

Legislative assistants from the offices of Delegates Roxann Robinson (R-27th) and Donald McEachin (D-9th) were also in attendance.

The event was a precursor to the annual Capitol Day event, sponsored by Friends of Virginia's Governor's Schools, which will be held on Monday, Feb. 3. Students interested in participating should attend the next EduPAC meeting, held on Mondays during lunch in room 232. Politically-minded parents interested in helping with the PTSA Advocacy Committee should contact Marianne Macon at Macon4@verizon.net.
