Foundation Supports Taylor Teaching Award

Taylor Teaching Award Recipient Max Smith
The Governor’s School Foundation sponsors the Taylor Teaching Award, which is a cash grant of up to $7,500 to a MLWGS teacher for a summer international travel experience that will have a direct impact upon his or her classroom instruction.

The winner of this year’s award is Social Studies teacher Max Smith, who will use the award to travel on the Trans-Siberian and Trans-Mongolian railroads from Beijing to Moscow this summer.

So far this year, the Annual Fund Campaign has raised $265,659 for the school. Overall current parent participation is 43%, and here is the parent participation by class:

• Seniors: 53%
• Juniors: 46%
• Sophomores: 45%
• Freshmen: 35%
