Senior Seminar Class Helps Build Library

Over spring break, 2014, ten students from the Relevance Rising senior seminar class traveled to Guatemala on a service learning expedition. Prior to travel, students studied non-profits, fund raising techniques and event planning. They also studied Guatemalan culture, politics and environment. Preceding travel, students raised almost $10,000 to support a library building project for the impoverished village of Tzununa. The focus of the trip was working in the village of Tzununa with local children and on the library property itself.

Students developed a Tumblr page to chronicle the events of the year, including every aspect of the class, available here:

The seminar class would like to thank all who donated to this effort! Project leaders in Tzununa estimated that the money raised will be enough to purchase all of the necessary building materials for the library.
