GREEN MACHINE

A note to Freshmen from Ms. Todd....

Hello hatchling parents!!!

My name is Ms. Todd. I am a chemistry teacher but also sponsor the SCA (student council), including a student fan group called Green Machine.

STUDENTS:
If you have not yet heard about Green Machine, it's a large group of students that buy fun shirts - either because you want a fun shirt or because wearing a shirt gets you free admission to all regular season school sporting events (STUDENTS ONLY)

If you're interested you'll need to think of a name to put on the back of your shirt (which needs to be school appropriate). Most students make some sort of play or pun of their first or last name, like mine two years ago was FAIRY TODDMOTHER. You can use letters, numbers, and normal typing symbols but keep in mind that all letters are capitalized.

Shirt sales will be this week- Tuesday, September 11-Thursday, September 13 and take place during lunch in the main commons on the 1st floor.
Shirts will cost $15. Cash or checks made out to MLWGS are accepted!

PARENTS:
Parents, you can order a Green Machine shirt too!  Order via your student and make sure they submit their order to the school by Thursday, September 13.

The BIG difference is that shirts do NOT grant parents free admission to sports events like they do for the student. General admission to sports events is $6 for adults while MLWGS student tickets are only $2; however, if parents would like free admission to all sports events for the school year, they can acquire that by making a $250 donation to Athletic Boosters with larger donations earning admissions for a larger number of general admission entries.

The Visual Arts Boosters (VAB) will have their first meeting on September 18 from 5:30-6:30 p.m. in the Art room (131). This is a great way to see what the VAB can do to help enrich your student’s art experience at MLWGS. All are welcome - seasoned and new parents. Please join us! Visit the VAB website for more information.

We have a lot of events planned and we would love to share them with you and ask for your participation! See Calendar of Events.

As of September 6, 2018, the Foundation has raised $14,612 toward our 2018-19 Annual Fund goal of $350,000.  Our enhancement grant spending is picking up as the year gets going.  We have already purchased modeling equipment for use in physics and biology instruction, covered student fees for Dragons in financial need, paid for website hosting for the student-run newspaper, and lots more.  Click here to make your gift to the 2018-19 Annual Fund to help us make MLWGS an ever better place to teach and to learn.  Thank you to everyone who has contributed so far!  We could not do it without you.
